Down to Earth Parenting Course

The Down to Earth Parenting course is a key offering within the Enriching Childhood Programs suite, providing parents with a valuable opportunity to gain insight into their children's behaviour and equipping them with a range of effective strategies and tools to promote safety, connection, and overall well-being for both parent and child.

Through a supportive group environment and a comprehensive framework for interpreting behaviour, this program empowers parents to gain a deeper understanding of their children's needs and emotions, ultimately fostering a more positive and fulfilling family dynamic.

Offered as a 6-module course, it includes:

One-year access to lessons and videos (can be extended upon request).
Six 1-hour support group sessions.

Our Structure

The Down-To-Earth Parenting program is structured into 6 online modules, each containing easily digestible, parent-friendly lessons and videos. In total, the program offers 60 lessons with a combined video runtime of over 4 hours.

Additionally, after completing each module, participants are invited to a 1-hour Zoom group support session. These sessions aim to foster self-reflection and create a safe space for parents to openly share their unfiltered experiences of parenting, encompassing the joys, challenges, feelings, and hopes, ultimately helping to overcome feelings of inadequacy and isolation.

The goals of our program are for parents to gain knowledge and skills that will:

Enhance their awareness of their emotional states and improve their ability to regulate them.
Enable them to interact with and respond to children in ways that cultivate a sense of safety and connection, positive relationships, social and emotional competence, skill building, agency, confidence and wellbeing.

Our Focus

Parents' enhanced ability to create a sense of safety, support their children's comprehension and processing of intense emotions, and promote their communication and negotiation skills, all contribute to their children's access and inclusion in the community.

Moreover, the program fosters a shared understanding and approach between parents and the service, enabling them to develop strong collaborative relationships and engage in more joint decision-making.
