Careers at Rachel’s Place
A small, well-supported team, a serious outdoor program, and a director who has actually done your job.
What it’s like to work here
We’re one centre of around 32 children, owner-operated since 2017. There is no head office, no regional manager, and no glossy compliance theatre. Decisions get made by the people in the room.
Educators here are trusted to plan from what they observe, spend real time outdoors, and say when something isn’t working. Programming time is protected. Mentoring is ongoing rather than annual. And we all still get muddy.
What we offer
- Above-award pay for the right person, and paid programming time
- Genuine professional development, including Forest School practice
- Mentoring from an experienced educational leader
- Consistent groups, so you build real relationships with children and families
- A team that covers for each other and eats lunch together
What we look for
- An ACECQA-approved qualification (Cert III, Diploma, or ECT) or study underway
- A current Queensland Blue Card, or eligibility to obtain one
- First aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis training (or willingness to complete it)
- Comfort being outdoors in all weather, all year
- People who like children’s company — the non-negotiable one
Current openings
We don’t always have a vacancy, but we keep every expression of interest on file and go to it first when something opens up — including casual and relief work, which is often how people start here.
