An open door, all day

Families are welcome at Rachel’s Place at any time of day. Come early and stay for a story. Arrive at lunch. Drop in on your day off. You’re never interrupting — and children love seeing their people in their world.

Share what you know

Our best experiences often come from families. We’ve had parents and grandparents who are musicians play for the children, gardeners plant out our beds, cooks run dumpling mornings, and family members share language, story and culture from home. If you’ve got a skill, an instrument, a language or a job children would find fascinating, tell us.

Ways to be involved

  • Read a story to a small group, in any language
  • Join a Forest School morning as an extra pair of hands
  • Help in the garden, the worm farm or a working bee
  • Cook or bake something from your family’s kitchen with the children
  • Contribute photos and family stories to your child’s learning documentation
  • Give us feedback — through surveys, or by catching Rachel at the gate

Staying in the loop

You’ll get daily conversation at pick-up, learning stories and photos through the term, a quarterly learning e-book for your child, and a written summary at the end of the kindy year. Our parent education sessions and blog tackle the things families actually ask about — drop-offs, hitting, sharing, sleep.

When something’s not right

Tell us early and tell us plainly. Speak to your child’s lead educator, Kate as director, or Rachel as owner — whichever feels easiest. We take it seriously, we write it down, and we come back to you.

Want to offer something?

Email [email protected] with what you’d like to share and when suits you. Rachel will find a spot for it in the program.

Come and see if we feel like the right fit

Tours run during session times so you can see the centre as it really is — busy, muddy and happy. Rachel or Kate will show you around and answer every question you have.
